capture enemies to serve you

Deskrawl lets you capture enemies, including bosses, as minions that haul the loot cart and help in combat. A Rein unlocks a captured minion; Take the Reins is the Steam achievement for that first unlock, at 88.4% global completion. Legendary Bond is the later seal for unlocking a Legendary minion. The store lists minions among Steam Market trade goods beside equipment and materials. First-party sources do not publish a complete named roster with stats or portraits, so the capture loop is the whole subject rather than a fake bestiary.

Capture, including bosses

The store about-text is explicit: enemies, including bosses, can be captured as minions. Capture is not limited to trash packs. The same boss you slay for a region achievement can later sit on your cart team if you spend a Rein. That double use is why Kings Woods and later grounds matter for both the slay board and the hauler roster. Take the Reins at 88.4% is the first spend; Legendary Bond at 46.8% is the later rarity spend on a Legendary minion.

Steam screenshots of the minion window over a snowy town are the visual evidence. They show a framed list, not a collectible card album. Until First Day Games ships per-minion portraits, none are drawn here. Use the capture prompt in-game and the Rein spend to confirm an unlock. Town NPCs from the store about-text open as you invest gold; they are town services, not extra capture targets.

Reins and Legendary Bond

Take the Reins — Unlock a Minion with a Rein — is the on-ramp, already held by most Steam players at 88.4%. The Rein is the spend; capture without a Rein does not complete the seal. Legendary Bond — Unlock a Legendary Minion — sits at 46.8% and is the rarity check on the same loop. Neither seal names which species you must catch, so the spend UI in-game is the confirmation, not a list on Steam.

Catch of a Lifetime (Rare fish) and other progress seals sit in the same relation cluster as Reins on the board because they are account-wide unlocks rather than map hunts. They are not minion recipes. If you are building a hauler first, Reins is the only required click; Legendary Bond can wait until a legendary capture actually drops. Steam Market listings can include minions after that unlock, which is store copy rather than a live silver price.

The loot cart and Steam Market

Minions haul the loot cart so combat can continue while drops move. Hotfixes in 0.1.13a targeted cart overload. If the strip is still fighting but the ground is full, you are looking at a cart problem, not a DPS problem. Pair a hauler with Life Skills auto-sell from the Desktop idle page. 0.1.13e also fixed duplicated loot after a combat revive, which can look like extra minion pickup and is a client duplicate, not a second capture.

Steam Market trading includes minions as a listed good, alongside equipment and materials. That is store text, not a price history. Treat listed minions as tradeable account items. Market silver amounts fluctuate outside first-party patch notes, so none are quoted here. Capture remains available on bosses named on the slay board — Forest Raptor, Bloodmoon Werewolf, Venom Queen, and the later Tazan and Veldak hunts are all in the same capture rule as trash packs.

What Steam does not list

There is no official named minion roster with portraits, base stats, or capture rates. Third-party sites that ship twenty-five minion entity URLs are using sources not verified as first-party here. Boss names on slay achievements tell you who exists in the world. They do not tell you which captured copies you own, which Reins you have spent, or which legendary minion Legendary Bond wants.

Use Take the Reins as the on-ramp, Legendary Bond as the rarity check, and the cart as the reason to care. If a later Steam news post prints a named list, that list can become a table. Until then the subject is the capture loop. Open Achievements to filter unlock-kind seals, and open Maps when the next capture target is a named ground boss rather than a random pack. Desktop idle covers Life Skills auto-sell that empties what the hauler brings back; those node notes are not repeated here.

Captures that share a hunt ground

Kings Woods is the first place the loop is obvious: you slay the Raptor and the Bloodmoon Werewolf for their seals, and the same packs are legal capture targets. Kings Woods South repeats the pattern with Venom Queen and the Ancient Oak Treant. Northhill Crypt’s Dark Elf Mage and Ogre are boss-tier captures if a Rein is sitting in the bag. You do not get a second achievement for capturing them; Take the Reins only fires once.

Later grounds do not change the rule. Tazan Wastes, Tazan Isles, The Barrens, The Crimson Vale, Veldak Highlands, The Defiled Keep, and The Cinder Crown all print two slay seals each. Any of those named foes can be a cart hauler after a Rein. Legendary Bond still waits on a Legendary minion, which may or may not be one of those bosses — Steam never names the legendary species. Farm the ground for the slay first, spend Reins when the capture UI actually offers the spend, and keep the cart moving while the strip stays parked.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Rein to use a captured enemy?

Yes for the Take the Reins achievement and for unlocking that minion onto the team. Capture flags the enemy; the Rein spend is the unlock. Legendary Bond is a separate later spend on a Legendary minion and does not replace the first Rein.

Is there an official named minion list?

Not on Steam, news, or achievements. Boss names on slay seals tell you who exists in the world, not which captured copies you own. Third-party rosters are not copied as official facts, and portraits Steam never shipped are not drawn here.
